Energy procurement in Philadelphia

Competitive electric and gas supply in Philadelphia.

Pennsylvania is a full retail choice state on both fuels. For a large Philadelphia building, supply is usually the largest controllable line on the bill.

No obligation. We will tell you if you do not need us.

Natural gas Retail choice Commercial gas supply can be bid.
Where it helps most High load buildings The bigger the load, the more a competitive process is worth.
Bundled with compliance Yes The benchmarking data is the data a supplier needs.

Dates and thresholds change. We confirm the current requirement for your specific building before anyone acts on it.

What energy supply is, and why it is the line you can move.

Your utility bill has two halves. Delivery is the wires, pipes and meters, and it always stays with the local utility. Supply is the electricity or natural gas itself. In a competitive market the supply half can be bought from a licensed supplier instead of taken at the utility’s default price, and the utility keeps delivering and, in most arrangements, keeps sending one bill. Nothing physical changes. What changes is who sets the price of the energy and on what terms.

Philadelphia buildings can shop both fuels, and because we already assemble twelve months of whole-building usage for the benchmarking filing, the supply review adds very little work on your side.

We bid multiple licensed suppliers on matched terms and show the comparison, including the terms that matter more than the headline rate: bandwidth, pass-throughs, and what happens at expiry.

How we run an energy supply review
Supply versus delivery
Delivery is the wires and pipes and it stays with your utility. Supply is the energy itself, and in a competitive market you choose who provides it and at what price. Our procurement service page walks through it in plain English.
Start with the bill
Rate class, current supply arrangement, usage and contract dates. One bill answers most of it.
Bid it properly
Multiple licensed suppliers, matched terms, and a comparison you can put in front of a board.
Watch the renewal
Most overpaying happens at rollover, not at signing. We monitor the end date.

How we bid your energy supply

Compliance clients get this alongside the filing, using data we already hold.

1
Read the current position
Rate class, supply arrangement, term, and what the building actually used over twelve months.
2
Confirm eligibility
Which accounts can transact, on which fuel, and any utility programme requirements.
3
Run the bid
Licensed suppliers competing on matched terms, with the spread and the risk explained.
4
Contract carefully
Term, bandwidth, pass-throughs and exit language reviewed before signature.
5
Monitor and renew
Renewal dates tracked so the next decision is made early rather than by default.
Where money leaks

Default supply and automatic rollovers are where buildings overpay.

A contract that rolls to a variable rate, a rate class that no longer matches how the building operates, or a bill nobody has audited in five years. None of these announce themselves, and all of them are recoverable.

We are paid by the supplier on procurement and we will show you the numbers, which is a question worth asking any broker who will not.

Received a letter?

What a Philadelphia notice usually means.

The city runs two programmes and the letter will be about one of them.

Send us the letter
Benchmarking non-compliance
The annual June 30 filing is missing or incomplete for the year named.
Building Energy Performance Programme notice
A tune-up is due or overdue for your cycle. Buildings with perfect benchmarking records receive these, because the obligations are separate.

Send us the letter itself, not a summary. We read it for the six things that decide the response: who sent it, which building and identifier it names, what period it covers, what it says you failed to do, the cure date, and whether it is a first notice or an escalation. We never quote a running penalty total, and we cure first, then talk to the regulator.

Why energy procurement sits with the compliance advisor

Because we already hold twelve months of verified whole-building data, which is exactly what a supplier needs to price you.

One accountable partner
We are not engineers and we do not pretend to be. We manage the process, coordinate the right vendors, and own the outcome.
Credentialed
Certified Energy Manager on staff, Portfolio Manager specialists, and the credentials the verification work requires.
We read the primary sources
Twenty-six jurisdictions, each with its own portal, deadline and enforcement style. We work from the ordinance, the regulator’s FAQ and the covered building list, not from last year’s memory.
Built for boards
Most of our clients are condo and co-op boards and the managers who serve them. We present in plain English, on your meeting schedule.

Energy supply and procurement questions in Philadelphia

Usually yes, for the house and common-area accounts. Individually metered residential accounts are the residents’ own decision.

Supplier-side compensation on procurement, and we will show you the numbers. Compliance and advisory work is fee-based.

No. Sometimes the honest recommendation is to stay where you are, and we would rather say that than churn your account.
